Welcome to the Ninth Summer School in Early Modern Japanese Palaeography at the University of Cambridge (8-19 August 2022). We are delighted to welcome forty participants from all over the world.
The programme this year focuses on The Business of Books in Early Modern Japan. We will be reading, transcribing, and translating a wide range of sources in wabun and sōrōbun that allow us to delve into different aspects of book making and book consumption in the Edo period. We will continue our collaboration with AI-powered transcription platform Minna de honkoku and welcome thought-provoking guest speakers. The programme features also a hands-on workshop with a professional block cutter and a printer from Japan. Discover more in the links below.
We would like to thank our sponsors.
